613 Titles in Théâtre français
jump to filter-optionsThe collection contains dramas in French (and occasionally an early German translation) nearly exclusively in 19th century editions. It is worth mentioning that it includes the Répertoire du Théâtre Français à Berlin as a nearly complete series, of which Bonn University Library holds 371 plays. This text corpus has been supplemented by dramas of the library of prince George of Prussia (1826-1902), which was bequeathed to Bonn University Library in 1902, as well as by selected titles from a collection of approximately 300 libretti and plays, which were purchased by the University Library at an auction in Brussels in 1852. The collected works don't generally rank high among the classics, but then they were very popular and are therefore of great value for literary and cultural history.
